A few eggs were found abandoned at a horse ranch, where Coco was volunteering. Coco, a high school student, and her friends took the eggs home and hatched them. Some of the eggs didn’t hatch successfully and some babies didn’t survive. It’s difficult for a baby to survive without a mother but Coco managed to nurture and care for him until he was 3 months old and started crowing. Animal Control arrived one day to give a notice that roosters aren’t allowed within the city limits of Fremont, so he will have to be out of Coco’s house by a specific date. Coco found a permanent home for Mikko at PreetiRang and even sponsored him for the first year. She visits him as often as she can.
